Take 5 with Cub Sport

Posted on November 07, 2016 by Dr Denim Online Store

First coming to our attention as a part of Triple J Unearthed, Cub Sport have quickly cemented themselves as one of the country's coolest indie-pop bands! Hailing from Brisbane, they are now cruising the country as part of their massive national tour. We took 5 with CS's lead vocalist Tim Nelson.

What were you all up to before becoming full time artists?

We all still have other jobs. Dan's an electrical engineer, Zoe works in the music department at a uni, Sam's a dental therapist and I'm a dental technician.

What’s your favourite part about going on tour?
Playing shows and getting to meet the people that are enjoying our music!

Is anyone superstitious? Have you got any pre-gig rituals that you HAVE to do before going on stage? Lucky undies?
Not really, we always get a delicious meal before or after a show though. Food is our lucky charm.

What’s been your most awkward tour experience to date?
We burst a tyre on our way to a show supporting Of Monsters and Men in Michigan and ended up arriving 20 mins before our set started. Doors were already open so we had to run in, set up and sound check in front of a few thousand people.

What’s the best thing since sliced bread?
Snapchat filters.

What’s the best record you’ve ever heard?
At the moment my favourite records are Blonde by Frank Ocean and A Seat at the Table by Solange.

Denim on top, bottom, or both?
Both! It's been a while since I've done both at the same time though.
