D: Who are you?
BB: Hey! I’m Brittany aka BB Claws, I’m a nail artist.
D: What do you do?
BB: I spend most of my time running my newly renovated salon with my best friend @llashesbypaige and my two newly trained team members. I create funky nails for my clients and love that we can offer them a fun and chilled-out experience. I feel like I would add a part-time therapist to my resume at this point too Haha but wouldn't have it any other way!
D: Where do you live?
BB: I live in the Sutherland Shire; Sydney as does my salon located in Miranda.
D: How do you find your life shapes your expression through clothing?
BB: Being in the creative industry defiantly has an influence in what I wear, I'm lucky to work for myself so wearing whatever makes me feel confident and comfortable on the daily is important to me.
D: How important is creativity in your routine?
BB: Being creative in my routine is everything! I look for creative inspiration everywhere I go. I think it’s easy to get lost in trends with social media so I like to take notes or pictures of things to come back to when I’m stuck on designs.
I feel it’s super important to come up with original concepts for my designs, especially when you’re posting them online for everyone to see, so I don’t try to force the creative process or take it too seriously. It helps to take a step back and look at the whole picture and not to fuss over the little things.
D: What is your Dr Denim go-to?
BB: Anything relaxed, I’m absolutely loving my Dr Denim Bella Worker jeans and the Donna Baggy in Superlight Retro.
D: What are you listening to?
BB: Right now, Red Morning Light by Kings of Leon is playing as I’m writing this haha.
I grew up listening to older rock music thanks to my parents so I always love to have a bit of punk/rock on rotation. But for work I switch up to my salon playlist which is cool, calm and relaxed, it’s a mixed bag of songs which everyone loves, you never hear the same song repeat throughout the day!
D: Who/what do you look to for inspiration for your craft?
BB: I get inspiration everywhere I go, from the textures and patterns on furniture and artworks, to clothing and jewelry. I absolutely love brain storming with a client to create something that’s true to their own style, it’s always nice seeing them stoked with a design that we’ve created together.
